A clear process helps you understand what decisions need to be made, what information is useful, and what can affect the schedule. Every project is different, but most follow a similar sequence.

1. Tell us about the project

Share the property’s town or ZIP code, the type of project, approximate size, preferred materials, and how you want to use the space. Photos and a rough sketch are useful, but you do not need a finished design.

2. Clarify the scope

The next step is to understand the site, the goals, and the main design choices. These may include deck size and shape, stairs, railings, materials, privacy, shade, and whether an existing structure needs to be removed or evaluated.

3. Review the estimate and options

A useful estimate should make the project scope understandable. Ask what is included, which materials are specified, how demolition and disposal are handled, and how unexpected site conditions or changes would be addressed.

4. Confirm approvals and scheduling

Permit, zoning, HOA, and inspection requirements depend on the property and project. These should be checked before construction begins. Scheduling can also depend on material availability, weather, and site access.

5. Prepare the site and build

Before work begins, confirm access and discuss how the work area will be used. Construction may include demolition, supports, framing, decking, stairs, railings, and finishing details, depending on the project scope.

6. Review the completed project

Review the finished work, discuss material care, and keep product documentation. Ask any remaining questions about maintenance and project closeout.

Ready to start?

Request an estimate and share what you know so far. It is fine if some details are still undecided.
